ABOUT
Location Sound Mixer Andrew Ramirez offers high-quality sound services backed by years of experience. He is dedicated to delivering exceptional sound quality to enhance the audio experience of your projects.

Sound Services Explained
Not every production requires the same setup—and that’s where I come in. From timecode and wireless systems to specialty mics and noise reduction tools, there are a variety of add-on services available to make sure your project gets the best possible sound. If you’re unsure which options are right for you, don’t worry. Every production is unique, and I’ll guide you through what makes the most sense based on your budget, timeline, and creative goals. My job is to take the guesswork out of audio so you can stay focused on the bigger picture: capturing great performances and telling your story.
Timecode (TC) & TC Slate
Timecode is a digital clock that keeps cameras and audio recorders perfectly in sync. It ensures flawless audio-video alignment, speeds up editing, and is the industry standard for professional film and TV production. TC slates are used as more advanced slate to display TC on each take.
Noise Assist
NoiseAssist is a real-time noise reduction tool that removes steady background sounds like traffic, hums, and air conditioning. It delivers cleaner recordings on set and minimizes the need for heavy audio cleanup in post-production.
2 & A Boom
A basic sound package with two lavalier mics and one boom mic—perfect for small, run-and-gun productions needing professional audio coverage without the full crew setup.
Stereo Camera Hops
Stereo camera hops send a high-quality stereo audio feed directly to the camera using a digital receiver or special breakout cable. Unlike a simple scratch track (used only for reference), true stereo hops deliver broadcast-ready sound straight to the footage—ideal when post-production time is limited.
Cosumables
Consumables are the everyday items a location sound mixer uses to rig and protect microphones—like foam windscreens, furs, tape, adapters, and concealers. These supplies typically cost $50–$200 per day, depending on production needs, and ensure clean, reliable sound on set.
Mix Assist
MixAssist is an automatic mixing feature that balances multiple microphones in real time. It reduces background noise, prevents mic overlap, and delivers cleaner dialogue—saving time on set and in post-production.
IEM's (In-Ear Monitors)
IEMs allow directors, producers, or crew to hear a live audio feed directly in their ears. They provide clear, wireless monitoring on set, helping ensure dialogue, sound effects, and performances are captured exactly as intended.
Plant Mics
Plant mics are hidden microphones placed on set or in cars to discreetly capture dialogue or room ambiance. They provide natural sound without being seen on camera.
Pro Mics vs ConsumerPro Mics
Professional lavs and boom mics deliver greater dynamic range, reliability, and overall fidelity compared to consumer gear. Pro lavs typically cost $350–$800 (without accessories), while high-end boom mics like the MKH50, CS3E, or Cmit5u range from $1,000–$3,000 each—ensuring broadcast-quality sound that consumer mics can’t match.
Pro Level TX and RX- Why It's Imporant
Professional wireless transmitters and receivers provide reliable, high-fidelity audio on set. They scan RF environments to avoid interference, preventing dropouts and saving productions time and money by avoiding retakes. Pro-level systems can cost thousands to tens of thousands of dollars, delivering the highest dynamic range and fidelity expected in film and TV.
